It’s official: Queen Elizabeth’s hat is breaking the internet.
The 91-year-old opened parliament yesterday, delivering a highly-anticipated speech that lay out the government’s plans for the next two years in the wake of Brexit.
But it was the monarch’s choice in headgear that had the whole world talking.
Viewers were quick to notice that her blue and yellow hat bared striking resemblance to the European Union flag, with some speculating she was making a silent protest about her opinion on the move.
Naturally, Twitter went into overdrive with many sharing their conspiracy theories.
Even one of the leading members of the European Parliament, Guy Verhofstadt, couldn’t help but weigh in on Her Majesty’s outfit.
Queen Elizabeth was accompanied by Prince Charles at the event, following the news that Prince Philip had been hospitalised with an infection on Tuesday.
