Jessica Marais has opened up about her life as a single mum to daughter Scout, revealing she is determined to teach her the importance of self-worth.
Speaking to the Daily Telegraph, the stunning Love Child star says it’s important her four-year-old knows that beauty is not just skin deep.
‘I just want Scout to grow up knowing she’s supported, she’s beautiful and that beauty is not just an external thing,’ says the 31-year-old. ‘I think being one’s true self is beautiful.’
And while Jess, who co-parents Scout with ex James Stewart, holds high hopes for her ‘cheeky’ girl, she admits she’s not always kicking goals in the mum department – describing herself as a ‘lazy’ mum.
‘I’m guilty of not getting dressed, staying in pyjamas,’ the former Packed to the Rafters star admitted on The Fitzy & Wippa Show. ‘If it’s a rainy day outside and we’re doing craft inside – it’s definitely a pyjama day.
‘And sometimes not washing my hair for a week – so much to the point then when I actually have to interact with someone else, like a grown-up, I put the effort in.’
Aside from letting her personal grooming slide, Jess also admits to other ‘lazy mum stuff’, revealing ‘I shove toys under the bed before someone comes over – that’s really lazy.’
