In a video posted to Instagram on Monday the 21st of October, the judge spoke to the music director of The Masked Singer, ‘Dorian’ and asked him whether or not “they are really singing live.”
“You can say it on camera,” Dannii added.
“[They are] 100 per cent live,” Dorian said, clearing up the misconceptions.
“They have little microphones inside the mask, taped to their head,” he continued.
“And there’s the combination of this microphone and that microphone (pointing to a hand-held and taped variety) for different sounds.”
Judge Jackie O Henderson is also adamant that they are singing live.
“I’ve seen a set malfunction happen and something fell on one of the singers and the singing stopped straight away,” Jackie told The Advertiser in September.
“They are singing live – 100 per cent fact.”
Former Big Brother host Gretel Killeen (who was uncovered as the Octopus in the first episode detailed how she sang from within the costume in an interview with The Project.
“The microphone is inside the mask and it’s live. It’s an amazing audio feed, it’s like singing in a cave. We are singing live, because people said “they’re lip-syncing”, but seriously, no.”
