It’s early days on The Block, but explosive arguments and confrontations have caused lines to be drawn in the sand between rival teams Ronnie and Georgia and Elyse and Josh.

When New Idea speaks to both parties, the tension
is obvious and neither is afraid to express how they really feel.

‘We’re always bickering,’ Ronnie admits. ‘We’re very vocal and we’re always arguing, but it’s how we make decisions. We’re even worse at home, away from the cameras.’

Georgia adds that arguing is normal for the couple of 12 years.

‘I don’t care if there’s five people in a room, I say what’s on my mind so we can figure it out and move on,’ she reveals.

Struggling with their new rivals, Elyse admits she’s not the biggest fan of the WA couple.

‘They’ve got a different way of thinking to us. We always knew there’d be one couple that would stir the pot,’ Elyse, 24, explains.

‘They’ve come out and said they’re here for the money and that’s it. They’re playing the game. We’re not about that. We’re about being kind to others and giving a helping hand when needed, because one day we might need it back.’

Ronnie and Georgia see things differently.

‘With Josh and
Elyse, there’s a big age difference,’ Georgia says. ‘You do see a difference
in maturity because there’s
a lot less life experience there – [Elyse is] 24 and [we are] 34 and 41 – there’s almost 20 years age difference there.

‘They think we’re a bit silly for being so competitive and being so focused on the game.’

But with three kids back in Perth, the couple is here to win.

‘Everyone will go to the pub and have drinks, we’ll stay home and research, get a good night’s sleep and wake up in the morning refreshed,’ Ronnie reveals.

The Block airs Monday to Wednesday, 7.30pm, and Sunday, 7pm, Channel Nine.
