They might have only completed one week on The Block, but it appears that tensions are already rising between Victorian couple Jesse and Mel and host Scott ‘Scotty’ Cam. In fact, while renovating their ensuite last week the dynamic duo refused to follow the rules, leading to a tense confrontation with Scotty.

After being told by foreman Keith to put in a second floor waste in their bathroom, the couple refused.
“I’m just saying we’re not doing it,” real estate agent Jesse fumed on the show. “I am p—-d off, it’s a complete waste of time.”
That’s when Keith brought in Scotty, who gave the couple a stern talking to.
“It’s not your rules, it’s my rules and Keith and Dan’s rules. If we tell you to put a floor waste in, put a floor waste in,” Scott told the couple.
Now, Jesse has opened up to New Idea about the moment and he reveals that he wasn’t too happy that Keith called in Scotty to talk to them.
“I think it shows Keith couldn’t stand on his own two feet and have an argument with someone and had to send in the big dogs,” he says. “I’m not sure it looks good for Keith.”
While they weren’t too happy about it, the couple caved and decided to do exactly what Scotty wanted. “If Scotty is coming in, it’s his way or the highway,” adds Mel.
“So, by that point I was like, OK, we have tried everything but at the end of the day we have to do exactly what they want, so it was easier to say yes and do it.”
But could their rule breaking tendencies just be the start of a feud between the couple and Scotty?
Indeed, they were all spotted looking tense on the set of The Block and at one point Mel even appeared to break down into tears.
Of course, the contracts administrator reveals that the build can get overwhelming and at times she needed to escape from the glare of the camera.
“There were sometimes where you want to disappear for 10 minutes,” Mel says.
“But you have to remember, you would never get the chance to do this again, so we just had to push ourselves.”
