She’s been branded the villain of the latest series of The Bachelor Australia, copping a barrage of nasty comments from viewers via social media for her standoffish behaviour with other contestants on the show.
Now, Keira Maguire has been forced to confront the demons from her past after a series of allegations about her childhood were widely reported today.
The 30-year-old was revealed to have been raised in a polygamist cult – with the pretty blonde releasing a statement a short time later addressing her involvement.
‘I am not in a position to comment on Alistah Laishkochav. My mother removed my family from that environment when I was five years old, over 25 years ago,’ she revealed to TheFIX. ‘I was brought up by my mother and grandmother in Brisbane in a loving, caring and compassionate household. I had a wonderful childhood and I am extremely grateful to both my mother and grandmother for the upbringing which they provided me and my siblings.
‘Although I have since met and reunited with my family, I have never had a relationship with Alistah Laishkochav. Alistah Laishkochav is not relevant to who I am nor does he define me,’ she concluded.
According to reports, Keira – who says she has ‘five brothers and sisters’ – told Bachelor producers her father had died 30 years ago.
However, this morning’s revelation that her father was a polygamist cult leader with nine wives and 64 children has shocked fans.
Oddly, Keira isn’t the only one of Bachelor Richie Strahan’s ladies with a cult background, with Megan Marx also opening up about having been raised in a very religious, cult-like environment.
