In Sydney for Valentine’s Day, Cam Cranley, the Bachelorette contestant everyone fell in love with last year, is single and ready to mingle as he explains to New Idea.
Working alongside Magnum, Cam is promoting their new Magnum Red Velvet flavour, released just in time for Valentine’s Day. Throughout the day, Cam has been meeting other singles in Sydney on Magnum Red Velvet Singles Couch pop-up.
‘Magnum wanted me to take the whole ‘lonely on the couch’ type of thing and make it not so lonely and get involved with some other singles and have a bit of fun with it because I’m obviously still single,’ Cam explains.
After appearing on Georgia Love’s season of The Bachelorette, Australia fell in love with the adorable fireman but his new found fame hasn’t made it any easier for him to find ‘the one’.
‘It’s difficult. For me, I want to meet someone organically, in a normal way. After the show, it’s been a very one-sided affair. People know me, they approach me, but I want to meet someone the old-fashioned way,’ Cam, who will also be taking the Magnum Singles Couch to Coogee Beach on Saturday, explains. ‘I have dated, I dated a girl for a while and then classically, this is classic me, she had to move overseas for work. Typical me. But I am single now.’
His newfound fame also eliminates using dating apps.
I avoid them because I have a bit of a small profile off the back of the show so we’re not meeting on equal ground and everyone knows me. I’m going to have to wait for this all to blow over and then maybe try it.’
One lovely lady who Cam has been linked to is Nikki Gogan from Richie Strahan’s Bachelor series.
‘I’ve met Nikki a few times, she’s such a gorgeous girl, she’s a real sweetheart. We have to be really careful though because it’s hard for us to have a chat or hang out anything because when people do see us together people jump to conclusions so it makes it harder for us,’ Cam admits.
Cam has stayed in the limelight since the Bachelorette finished due to his close friendship with Lee, who is now dating Georgia. The three have been seen hanging out at various events. But with rumours swirling over whether Georgia and Lee are still together, we decided to ask Cam directly if the two are still as happy as ever.
‘I can only comment on the times I’m with them. During those times they’re great and they’re a beautiful couple – I’m not there when they’re not,’ Cam explains. ‘I’d be very surprised if these rumours were true but I’m not there.’
Cam is also still close with fellow Bachelorette contestant, Matty J, who everyone thinks will be the next Bachelor.
‘I don’t have any goss there. He’s one of those guys where he’d be honest with me if I did ask him but I don’t want to put him in that place so I haven’t bothered asking him – so I don’t personally know,’ Cam reveals. ‘If he was to do it, I think he’d be fantastic at it, he’s amazing. What’s the harm? He’s such a unique, amazing guy. He’s so funny and down to earth. He’s like a unicorn; he’s a rare catch. If anyone were to end up with him, they’d be blessed and lucky.’
