From the very first episode, Chelsie McLeod has been the fan favourite to take home the Bachelor’s final red rose. But now a source claims that the 23-year-old may not end up with the happy ending she has been longing for…
WATCH: Leaked footage shows Abbie slamming Matt during an unauthorised Bachelor viewing party
An insider reveals exclusively to New Idea that the usually shy and quiet contestant has shocked everyone after apparently ‘throwing a tantrum and refusing to do any press’.
If Matt has chosen Chelsie as The One, why is she refusing to talk about their budding romance? Could this reveal that the couple are already in trouble?
“Chelsie has been really down since the show wrapped and now she has said she isn’t going to do any interviews,” the source claims. “She doesn’t want anything to do with franchise anymore, despite being under contractual obligations for months to come.”
With our source also claiming that this year’s villain, Abbie Chatfield, flew into Matt’s home city after filming wrapped, speculation is rife that her secret visit could have something to do with Chelsie’s outburst.
“Abbie went to Melbourne after the finale [finished filming] and since then she has started to behave really strangely,” tells the source. “She’s secretly confessed to the other girls that she has a man, but she keeps saying that while she wishes she could tell them more she just can’t.”
“Now everyone is wondering if the secret man is Matt.”
While the Bachelor has confirmed he is still in a relationship with one of the girls from the show, Matt hasn’t explicitly said that the final contestant he chooses is the woman he ends up with.
And with rumours of Chelsie – who has been tipped to win from the beginning – refusing to talk about the experience, this had led some to believe Matt has pulled a ‘Blake Garvey’.
The former Bachelor stunned the nation in 2014 when he dumped the winner, Samantha Frost, and declared his love for Louise Pillidge – who was the second runner-up on the season.
Blake received enormous backlash for his decision – so surely Matt would want to steer clear from following in this former Bachelor’s footsteps.
But our source claims that Matt and the winning contestant have already faced a number of challenges, and if it is Chelsie, according to the insider, the relationship could already be over.
“Since the finale, everyone has heard there’s been problem after problem – they were just not seeing eye-to-eye on anything and didn’t have any chemistry. Once the cameras stopped rolling, the sparkle just wore off,” says the on-set insider.
Meanwhile Abbie, who shared undeniable chemistry with the astrophysicist, let it slip to the other contestants that she still talks to Matt and has feelings for him.
But it appears she isn’t the only one who still keeps in touch with this year’s Bachelor. Girl-next-door Elly Miles was undoubtedly the sweetest, most lovable contestant on this year’s show – and according to our insider, that’s exactly why Matt didn’t take her to the finals, shocking viewers by sending her home prior to the hometown visits.
“Matt was not sure where his heart was at and the pressure was on for hometowns,” claims the source. “He decided to send Elly home because he knew that the public backlash would be harsh if he took her to the final and didn’t pick her. Australia would have torn shreds off him if he strung her along.”
But apparently, weeks after sending the bubbly blonde nurse home, Matt broke strict protocol by reaching out to her.
“Matt is a decent guy and he wanted to make sure Elly was okay,” says the source. “And basically, they reconnected, and a lot of past feelings resurfaced. Like everyone else, she had heard he was having problems too and was there for support when he needed it.”
While it’s still unclear just why fan favourite Chelsie has distanced herself from the show, with the rumours of her press ban circling the show, producers have apparently been left scrambling, as many have been left wondering if Matt has already dumped the winner for another contestant!
