The Bachelor: ‘It’s like a prison camp’

It's no bed of roses behind the scenes
Channel Ten

As promised, The Bachelor is bringing plenty of twists and turns – but New Idea can exclusively reveal that the most scandalous televised moments are nothing compared with what’s going on when the cameras stop rolling.

According to a well-placed source, 31-year-old Richie Strahan’s line-up of beauties were forced to live under ‘prison camp’ conditions that included
a weekly allowance of $630, monitored 15-minute phone calls to loved ones just twice a month and gruelling filming schedules that often saw production continue throughout the night and wrap not long before the morning wake-up call.

‘The cocktail parties were the hardest for them,’ says the source. ‘They would start in hair and make-up at lunchtime and often filming would continue until the early hours.

‘One particular night went
to 6am, but hardly any wrapped before 4am. Then the girls would be woken up to do another 10 hours of interviews about what had happened and who
had been sent packing.’
