The Bachelor finale saw Matt decide that Abbie Chatfield wasn’t the one for him. But did he dodge a bullet in the process?
Throughout the season, other contestants and even Matt’s best friend warned him that Abbie was bad news. They were concerned that the 23-year-old was fame-hungry and not genuinely looking for love.
During the final episode, Matt’s best friend Kate expressed her concerns about Abbie’s age and whether her feelings for Matt were genuine.

On screen Abbie declared to Matt that she wanted a future, with marriage and kids, but one newspaper previously reported that Abbie may have unconventional views about relationships.
In a discussion on Facebook, Abbie apparently shared a comment stating that she’s “all for open relationships” and added that she doesn’t take issue with people who cheat on their partners. “I think monogamy is toxic so cheating doesn’t make me feel ‘sick’,” the post appears to read.
This latest revelation is completely at odds with Matt’s own views about relationships – in an interview earlier this year stated he would love to emulate his parents’ own over 30-year-strong relationship.
In the finale, we saw, despite Matt telling Abbie: “I’ve never met anyone like you” and the pair sharing a tearful, emotional final date, he decides Chelsie is the one for him. “It’s just my heart belongs with someone else,” Matt says.
Naturally, the news doesn’t go down well and Abbie – who insisted that she was in love with Matt – who then says “I couldn’t even cry if I tried… Maybe I don’t love him.”
Matt gave Chelsie his final rose, but could his sexual chemistry with runner-up Abbie cause problems?
