After months of rumours and denial, Terri Irwin and Russell Crowe have finally made their love official!
In a shock public declaration, Terri took to Twitter last week to reveal her true feelings for the Aussie actor.
‘Love is not a big enough word,’ she announced in a post, before re-tweeting another one of Russell’s posts – a loved-up habit she’s always failed to hide from overjoyed fans.
The gushy statement comes just one month after she played down romance rumours between the pair, telling Access Hollywood the Oscar-winner was a ‘dear friend’, but that there was ‘nothing going on’.
Now, after more than a decade of mourning the loss of her husband Steve, it would seem that the 52-year-old conservationist is finally ready to move on and open her heart to love again.
The thrilling news of Russell, 53, and Terri’s love confession comes after more than a year of online flirting and countless rumours suggesting the pair’s undeniable chemistry had developed into something more than just a good friendship.
While Russ’ millions of music fans will recognise her statement as the name of the actor’s new song, sources tell New Idea that Terri used the sweet sentiment as an opportunity to reveal her true feelings.
Back in April, New Idea reported that Russell – who in Terri’s own words was ‘great mates’ with her late husband – had been spotted holidaying on several occasions at Terri’s Sunshine Coast home.
The pair were said to have spent their hours wandering around the grounds, bushwalking and eating organic produce, and Russell was even spied walking around shirtless in the early hours of the morning.
Although Russell – who separated from ex-wife Danielle Spencer in 2012 and hasn’t gone public with anyone else until recently – was also quick to deny a romantic relationship, he did admit last month to Dave Hughes and Kate Langbroek on their KIIS FM radio show that Terri is ‘one of the greatest women I’ve ever met in my life.
‘You know, I do love Terri Irwin,’ he said. ‘I love her kids, and I love how she’s kept the memory of Steve alive and respected the work that the two of them had begun… she’s an absolute champion.’
