Teen Mom: OG star Ryan Edwards has checked himself in to rehab, E! News reports.
According to multiple sources, the 28-year-old father has been receiving treatment for two weeks and is currently “doing well.”
The news comes after fellow MTV star Maci Bookout outed her baby daddy’s substance abuse issues in a recent episode of the reality TV show.
“Ryan’s f—ked up,” she told co-stars Amber Portwood and Catelynn Baltierra whilst on a trip to Puerto Rico with her husband Taylor McKinney.
“I watch it, I see it, I know it. Where he’s at right now, when I see him, I know where he’s at and I’m like, ‘Wow, he needs some guidance.’”
When Baltierra questioned whether anyone close to Edwards had spoken to him about “going to a treatment centre,” Bookout said: “[Ryan] would do it. It’s everyone else around him that’s too afraid to admit it.”
She continued: “What I’m saying is that everyone else around him is too afraid of what it will look like more than his health. It’s all denial. They all know.
The emotional mother-of-three then went on to say she was terrified that her ex would never recover from his addiction.
“I’m just sick of cleaning up his mess,” the 25-year-old said, wiping away tears.
“I get tired of dealing with the s***. Just being the only one that f***ing sees everything and cares.”
“I talk to Taylor about it like, ‘I wonder if today’s going to be the day that Ryan does something that he can’t come back from,’” she added.
Edwards and Bookout welcomed their son Bentley in 2008.
The pair were engaged a year later, but subsequently ended their relationship in 2010.
