Sydney Swans captain Kieren Jack said he wouldn’t be ‘caught in a he said, she said’ match when it comes to his family feud.
Speaking about the riff at a press conference at the SCG on Wednesday, Kieren made it clear his ‘priorities’ lie with his girlfriend and little brother, Brandon.
‘I’m not going to get caught into commenting too much on it, or getting caught into a he said, she said – it’s probably an immature approach,’ he said.
‘My stance on it is pretty clear. It’s a private matter, my wishes are for it to stay that way,’ Jack added.
Acknowledging that ‘family issues happen’, Jack said, ‘The way to deal with it is not as a public matter, it needs to remain private.’
‘What I will say is my priorities of support are firmly with my partner and my little brother, who I love and care for very much.
‘As distressing as the events have been the level of support we’ve given each other on top of friends, other family members, teammates, the Sydney Swans in general has highlighted to us how lucky we are to have those people in our lives.
‘That’s all I’m going to say on it. It is a big week, someone told me it’s my 200th game this week so I’m happy to talk about football but I’m not going to get caught into commenting on any shape or form of the family matter.’
The family fall-out turned public earlier this week when his mother, Donna Jack, tweet about not being invited to her son’s 200th match on Friday.
The feud is reportedly over Jack’s girlfriend of three years, Charlotte Goodlet.
‘She’s strong, she’s an independent woman, she’s not just a model, I can tell you that, and a lot of people here know that,’ Jack said. ‘I love her very much and am very proud of her.’
When asked if his father, Garry Jack, will be attending on Friday night, the sports star denied rumours he was banned, adding, ‘It’s his decision.’
‘I acknowledge my family did a lot for getting me to the position I’m in,’ he said.
‘In the current state there is a private matter that’s going on and I’m not going to discuss that. I’m fortunate I’ve got some good people around me.’
