Today weather presenter Steve Jacobs has announced that he’s stepping down from his role after 12 years on the show
The 49-year-old dad-of-two made the tearful announcement on Thursday that he would no longer be working Monday to Friday due to the grueling schedule, but will instead work on Weekend Today.
‘For the past 12 years, I haven’t been able to wake up once with my wife, haven’t been able to get the kids to daycare,’ he said during the emotional segment.
‘After 12 years I’ve decided to hang up my boots from Monday to Friday, but the good news is… Mark Calvert (Today executive producer) has come up with a great program to make my work more flexible so I can stay with you guys.
‘So I’ll still be on the show doing the Knock of Cash and Little Heroes. I’ll be joining the weekend team and doing some weather there.
‘I will still be part of the family and I won’t be here with you every day, and it’s been a great honour to be part of this show.’
