It’s been years since Stephen Peacocke last graced our TV screens and we’re not going to lie —we’ve missed our favourite River Boy.
Steve left Home and Away back in 2016 to pursue a film career in Hollywood.
But there’s good news for Brax fans — Steve is back in the Bay! Well, sort of.
The 36-year-old returned from Hollywood to support the Dollars for Dust fundraiser for Drought Angels last night at the Hotel CBD in Sydney.
The star was joined by fellow Home and Away cast mates Lynne McGranger, Ray Meagher, Sophie Dillman, James Stewart, Sarah Roberts – the latter of whom took to the stage at one point in the evening to sing.
It’s a cause that is close to Stephen’s heart, having grown up in the country town of Bourke in NSW.
“I’m so glad to be able to be a part of an event like Dollars For Dust,” Steve tells New Idea. “Having grown up in the Central West, it’s a cause that means a lot to me.”
Stephen reveals that people close to him are currently suffering in the droughts.
“I’ve got friends from all across the state —from Bourke and Tottenham, to Trangie and Dubbo — who are all doing it really tough and saying that this is the worst drought since the 80’s. And that’s as bad as it gets,” he says.
The actor has witnessed first had the devastating impact the droughts can have on communities.
“People out there tend to be eternally stoic but it’s pretty heartbreaking to see,” he says.
“From farmers to local businesses all the way through to kids at school, in a drought this bad, everyone does it tough.”
Five cents from every issue sold this week will be donated to Drought Angels.
