Star Wars scandal as big names fired from movie mid-filming

The hit franchise has been rocked by its biggest crisis ever

The billion-dollar Star Wars franchise has been thrown into an unprecedented crisis, with confirmation today that the new (and as-yet-unnamed) young Han Solo film has been rocked by two high profile firings.

Lucasfilm has confirmed that dual directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller have been dumped from the much-anticipated movie, which has been filming in Europe for a number of weeks already.

The company is apparently unhappy with whats already in the can, and have decided to pull the plug until a new director is named. The flick is still claimed to be on course for a May 2018 release.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller are talented filmmakers who have assembled an incredible cast and crew, but it’s become clear that we had different creative visions on this film, and we’ve decided to part ways. A new director will be announced soon, said Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy in an official statement.

Lord and Miller are big names in Hollywood – having previously worked on the Lego Movie, which was a commercial and critical smash. Theyve confirmed their departure from the film, admitting it just wasnt working out.

Unfortunately, our vision and process weren’t aligned with our partners on this project. We normally aren’t fans of the phrase ‘creative differences’ but for once this cliché is true. We are really proud of the amazing and world-class work of our cast and crew.

Lets hope the movie works out!
