Radio star Jo Stanley has confessed to a one night stand with former TV star Rove McManus – who now hosts a Sydney radio show with Sam Frost – with the night ending in a way that would have many other people squirming with embarrassment and humiliation.
The GOLD FM personality told co-host Anthony ‘Lehmo’ Lehmann about the session, without too much apparent awkwardness or embarrassment.
‘I had a very brief, one-night interlude… with Rove McManus,’ she casually announced. ‘It was before he was on TV, and we were all doing stand-up, back in the heyday, when your only worries were if you’d get a laugh that night… and who you might spend the rest of the evening with.’
But when it came to the potentially soul-crushing moment when she had to find out if he was interested in continuing contact, something memorable happened.
‘I felt like would be the polite thing to do to exchange numbers, because that’s what you do right?’ she noted.
‘So I’ve gone, “do you wanna exchange numbers?” and he says, “Oh, nup”. And I can’t tell you how relieved I was! I was like “oh, thank god” because I really didn’t want to pretend and I really, I just respected that. I was like, “yeah, good on you, I’m really happy with that honesty”.’
