Shocking footage has emerged of protesters shouting “liar liar” whilst storming the stage during a live Dancing With The Stars performance by Ryan Lochte – the American gold medal-winning swimmer who falsely claimed he had been robbed at gunpoint during the Rio Olympics last month.
The footage, released by ABC America – which was not originally seen by US audiences as the network cut to a commercial break – shows two men wearing anti-Lochte t-shirts storming the stage whilst Ryan and his dance partner, Cheryl Burke were being critiqued by the judges.
Whilst the protesters were swiftly tackled by security, a visibly shaken Ryan appears to hide behind Cheryl and co-host Tom Bergeron.
Following the terrifying ordeal, the disgraced Olympian gave a backstage interview.
“So many feelings are going through my head right now,” he stated.
“I’m a little hurt. I came out here and wanted to do something I am not comfortable with. I came out there with a big smile”.
However, production insiders tell a different story. According to sources, Ryan completely freaked out after filming wrapped.
“He was flipping our and demanding that they give him an entire security squad from now on”.
Controversy swirled around the swimmer last month after claimed he and three team-mates were robbed and he had a gun pointed at his head by robbers at the Rio Olympics.
It was later revealed that the athletes had vandalized a petrol station after a night of partying and had been confronted by security guards.
In the aftermath, Ryan lost all four of his sponsors and was suspended from US swimming competitions for 10 months.
