Can you believe it’s been 30 years since hit coming-of-age flick Stand by Me hit the big screen?!
The story of four small-town boys who decide to search for a dead body in the woods, the movie featured pack-leader Gordie (Wil Wheaton), wise guy Chris (River Phoenix), loose cannon Teddy (Corey Feldman) and fat kid Vern (Jerry O’Connell) and went on to become an instant cult classic.
So just where are the foursome now? They’ve certainly had mixed fortunes…
Wil, now 44, went on to land a role in Star Trek: The Next Generation and recently played himself in 13 episodes of The Big Bang Theory, while Jerry, now 42, shot to Hollywood stardom with roles in Jerry Maguire and Sliders and is now married to Rebecca Romijin, with whom he has seven-year-old twin daughters.
Life wasn’t so kind to River and Corey. Well on his way to superstardom after scoring an Oscar nomination for his role in 1988 flick Running on Empty, River tragically lost his life to drug-related heart failure aged just 23.
Meanwhile, Corey became emancipated from his parents at aged 15 before entering rehab in 1991. Now 45, Corey was unable to get his career back to the heights of his teens, most recently voicing Slash in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TV series.
