Her billionaire father may recently have pledged to give away all of his wealth, but Love Child actress Sophia Forrest couldn’t care less about not having an inheritance to fall back on.
Speaking with the Sydney Morning Herald, the 22-year-old said: ‘Inheritance has never really made sense to me. You watch it tear families apart and it baffles me.’
Sophia’s father is mining billionaire Andrew ‘Twiggy’ Forrest, who is worth a staggering $5.2 billion.
A staunch humanitarian and philanthropist, the mining magnet recently donated $400 million of his wealth to charity – the single largest donation by a living person in Australian history –and has further plans to give away the majority of his fortune, rather than leave it to Sophia and her siblings.
‘You’re not entitled to that money, you haven’t earned it, you haven’t worked for it – I don’t see why you think it should be yours. So we all agreed to give it all away,’ she said of her parents’ decision.
‘It’s a relief to know it’s not my problem. It’s going to better things. I don’t need it. I’m going to work and make it on my own,’
Sophia made her TV debut ealier this year playing society princess and school girl Debbie Hampshire on Channel Nine drama Love Child.
