Sonia Kruger and her news presenter husband Craig McPherson are currently in the midst of a bitter neighbourhood feud over plans to renovate their luxury abode in Sydney’s Lower North Shore.
It’s been reported that the pair are prepared to spend $1 million upgrading their already impressive $6.5 million Mosman Mansion, which would see the addition of an indoor elevator and a swimming pool to the five-bedroom, three-level home. They have also applied to extend the outdoor entertainment area on their rooftop which looks over Balmoral Beach.
But neighbours living on the couple’s street are up in arms over the renovations, claiming the extensions will obstruct their own ocean views.
In a complaint to the council, local resident, Beryl Ward said the redevelopments were met with “shock and deep concern,” adding that the couple’s proposed rooftop expansion would be a noise obstruction and could potentially interfere with her privacy.
Fellow neighbours Steve and Anna Kominakis also argued against the upgrades. In their objection to the council the couple explained that they have lived through “four major redevelopments in 40 years” and that what was being suggested would require “continuous policing from the proposed building contractor.”
But according to The Daily Telegraph, McPherson has already spoken to apprehensive residents about their objections and has personally assured them that the couple are prepared to adjust plans to accommodate any concern.
“There’s nothing at all unreasonable in the objections, but we submitted several short and long-term plans in the one development application which just made economic sense,” he said.
“We may put a pool in in a year or so and beyond that may look at making more modifications within the next two or three years and even then, it may be longer.”
“But in the event that we go ahead, we will certainly take into account any objections and make adjustments accordingly.”
Kruger and McPherson bought their property in December 2015 after selling their Warrawee home for $3.75 million.
