It’s been 47 years since she disappeared, but police say they could be close to solving what happened to three-year-old girl Cheryl Grimmer.
Cheryl was taken outside a beach shower block near Wollongong on January 12, 1970 in a case that has baffled detectives.
‘We are calling this a breakthrough in the investigation. It’s something that was missed over the years,’ Detective Sergeant Damian Loone told the Daily Telegraph.
Police now think the little girl was taken by a teenage boy who was seen running form the area.
At the time, police thought the teen wouldn’t have any information.
Believed to be in his 60s now, Detective Sergeant Loone said, ‘It’s time to come clean and absolve yourself and tell us what happened on that day — and, more importantly, for the family. If not for yourself, do it for them.’
