Game of Thrones actor Peter Vaughan has died aged 93.
Vaughan passed away ‘peacefully’ surrounded by his family on Tuesday.
His agent Sally Long-Innes said: ‘This is to confirm that very sadly Peter Vaughan passed away at approximately 10.30 this morning. He died peacefully with his family around him.’
Vaughan was well-known for his role as member of the Night’s Watch and Jon Snow’s blind mentor, Maester Aemon, in the HBO series Game Of Thrones, but also for his role as villain Harry Grout in the 1970s prison sitcom Porridge.
Speaking to the Sunday Post earlier this year about his time on Game of Thrones, Vaughan said, ‘It’s been an absolute privilege to have worked on it for the past five years at my time of life because it’s absolutely first-class.’
