The singer took to Instagram today to share a video of himself in a hospital room post-surgery, dressed in scrubs and hooked up to an IV drip.

“I had a pretty big operation yesterday with a spinal fusion of L5 S1 and disc replacement of L4 L5,” Shannon wrote in the caption.

“The chronic pain was getting too much to handle.”

The operation appears to have been a success and the 43-year-old is now in recovery.

“The opp went really well and I’m feeling great!” wrote Shannon, and made a note to thank his surgeons and nurses in the message.

The former Australian Idol contestant is taking a month off to recover before he continues touring.

Earlier this year, the father-of-four paid a visit to the hospital for a happier reason, after he welcomed his son Colton Keith Noll with his wife Rochelle in January.

Shannon told New Idea that he planned to make up for his past mistakes with his fourth child, after feeling that he missed out on seeing his other children Cody, 17, Blake, 15 and Sienna, 11 grow up while he toured.

“With the new baby, I’m going to have to change quite a bit,” he confessed.

“With my three kids now older, my wife Rochelle was starting to get back on the road with me when we were touring, which was great, but now she can’t so I might have to scale back a bit so I can spend time with the family.”

It’s been over a decade since Shannon has had a newborn in the house, and he admitted that a lot has changed.

“I have to pay the bills, so it’s finding that perfect balance,” he said of juggling his career and fatherhood.

“This time I have to work smarter not harder because I don’t want to miss out on seeing my boy grow up as I felt I missed out on my other kids growing up before.”
