While it’s fair to say Shane Warne has a reputation as something of a ladies man, when the former cricketer caught wind that Channel Nine’s The Today Show had referred to him as ‘creepy’ and cheesy’, he wasn’t exactly happy!
Panelists on the show compared Shane to a ‘creepy uncle’ after the sportsman commented on a photo of American actress Emily Ratajkowski, last week.
Lashing out on Twitter, the 47-year-old even threatened legal action against his long-term employer.
‘I’ve been employed by Ch 9 for 23 years & have gone out of my way to give the today show my time, not anymore, lawyer time I think… [sic],’
The somewhat harsh comments were made in reference to Shane’s subtle attempt at flirting with Emily on social media.
‘Stunning day in London!!! Enjoy. X,’ read Shane’s seemingly harmess post on a seductive selfie Emily had uploaded.
Eagle-eyed fans were quick to suggest Warnie was perhaps having a crack at 25-year-old Emily, as the hashtag #GiveShaneAGo quickly started trending.
However, although Warnie may have left red-faced by the incident, at least he’s got the support of his ex-fiance Liz Hurley.
Using Twitter to stick up for her former flame, the British actress chimed in,
‘Extraordinary for Channel 9 to call their own employee ‘creepy’…. @TheTodayShow is being mean to the Big Blonde’.
