Could Seal and Susan Sarandon be Hollywood’s hottest new couple?
The unlikely pair were recently spotted out on a date in LA, sharing an intimate meal at Beverly Hills’ Matsuhisa restaurant, where onlookers described them as ‘incredibly cosy’ and ‘very flirtatious’, before leaving together in the same car.
‘They were hanging off each other’s every word and looking for any excuse to touch each other,’ an onlooker tells New Idea.
‘At one point, she leaned over and whispered something in his ear, and he looked a little embarrassed. They left shortly afterwards.’
Susan, 70, gave the cameras a mischievous smile as the pair made their way into the night, while 54-year-old Seal seemed keen to be photographed with the award-winning actress.
But while Susan – who recently split from long-term toyboy lover Jonathan Bricklin, who was half her age – has said she’s ready to date again, insiders tell New Idea that Seal has ulterior motives when it comes to the A-list actress.
‘Seal was pretty cut up when he saw Delta posting pics of herself on Instagram cosying up to her ex-boyfriend Nick Jonas,’ a source says.
‘Nick’s much younger than Seal, and he felt like Delta, who he’s totally besotted with, was rubbing his face in it a bit with the intimate shot.
‘He and Delta have been talking about marriage, so this is a real slap in the face.
‘So he got his own back by heading out with Susan. Delta has always worried that she’s not mature enough for Seal, so he thought that going out with a more mature and more famous celebrity would force her to take notice. It was a revenge date of sorts.’
Despite Seal’s motives, Susan has made no secret of her desire to find love at age 70 – but says she’s not keen on dating sites or apps such as Tinder.
‘I’m a New Yorker, I’ve always lived here, but one of the reasons that I love New York is that the serendipity is just so thick here, so you can go out on the street and just see things you didn’t count on, and you don’t have to swipe left or right,’ she revealed last year.
My daughter keeps telling me: “Just be open”… I keep saying: “I’m open, I’m open. I’ve been open.”
