As Seal counts down the days until he arrives in Australia to perform at the Byron Bay Bluesfest, there’s another very special reason for his trip Down Under.

Sources tell New Idea the singer ‘jumped at the chance’ to perform at the legendary festival, just so he would have the chance to reconnect with former love Delta Goodrem.

The pair haven’t seen each other since Seal left Australia once his filming commitments with The Voice ended late last year – forcing the pair to call time on their behind-the-scenes romance.

But now with Seal performing in Byron Bay in just a few weeks, he’s already reached out to the 33-year-old singer about flying into the trendy NSW town so he can attempt to win her heart once again.

‘When Seal was approached about playing at Bluesfest, he jumped at the chance,’ a source close to the 55-year-old revealed.

‘As the months have gone on since he left Australia, Seal has really missed Delta and realised that he let someone very special slip through his fingers.

‘So he’s using this trip as his chance to hopefully see Delta again and tell her how he feels. Seal is a very spiritual person and believes in being honest about his emotions and feelings – he really hopes that Delta agrees to see him so he can open his heart.’

But it seems Seal – who once admitted ‘I love Delta’, describing her as a ‘national treasure’ – could have some competition on his hands.

The adored Aussie singer has been dating rock ’n’ roll lover Matthew Copley since December, taking their romance public with a PDA-filled trip to Hawaii. Since then, the pair have been inseparable – Matthew performing with Delta during live performances of her new single, Think About You.

‘There’s no doubting that Delta is head over heels for Matthew, but it’s going to be interesting to see how she reacts when Seal is in town,’ says a source close to Delta.
