While the world collectively cringed at Warren Beatty’s awkward Oscars blunder, one woman found it a cause for celebration.
In 2010, Sarah Murdoch infamously and mistakenly awarded Kesley Martinovich as the winner of Australia’s Next Top Model when it was actually Amanda Ware who took out the title.
Now, six years on from her embarrassing mishap – which was also broadcast live on TV – the former model has spoken out about the relief she felt watching the biggest gaffe in Academy Awards history play out.
“I’ve been waiting for this moment for more than six years now,” the 44-year-old told Mamamia.
“The Oscars is so much worse than Top Model. I’m sorry, but literally the whole world was watching.”
Murdoch even wonders if the producers of the ceremony took a leaf out of her book in an effort to make the Best Picture reveal a little more dramatic.
“I don’t want to say the Oscars ‘copied’ me, but I’m not ruling it out,” she added.
