The South Sydney Rabbitohs could one day welcome yet another Burgess into their ranks, with news NRL star Sam is expecting his first child with wife Phoebe.
The Daily Telegraph is reporting the elated couple told friends and family their exciting news after Phoebe, 27, reached the end of her first trimester last week.
‘They’re over the moon and can’t wait,’ a friend of the couple told the newspaper. ‘They are really so happy. They’ve been carrying on as normal, no particular cravings for Phoebe so far. She feels very lucky.’
Having previously spoken of their desire to start a family, Phoebe revealed in April that a baby was imminent for the couple.
‘We are not-not trying and we are not trying, we are just enjoying married life,’ she told the Sydney Morning Herald. ‘We are leaving everything up to chance.’
As for 27-year-old Sam’s upcoming debut as a dad, Phoebe says she is confident he’ll be in winning form.
‘Sam loves kids,’ she says. ‘He plays like a child with them. We sit around and it is always Sam who is holding or playing with a child. He’ll be a natural dad for sure.’
