It’s only been a matter of hours since Sally Obermeder revealed that her baby daughter Elyssa had been welcomed into the world. But already Obermeder can’t wipe the smile off her face, taking to Instagram to share a tender moment between the new addition and five-year-old daughter, Annabelle Grace.

The 43-year-old posted a video of herself cuddling up to baby Elyssa on a hospital bed as the tiny tot’s new big sister kissed the top of her head. Captioning the sweet moment, the mother-of-two penned, “indescribable joy and gratitude.”

The baby’s safe arrival via surrogate in the US state of Milwaukee was announced in an adorable Instagram snap yesterday, revealing the newborn’s full name as Elyssa Rose Obermeder.

The TV personality has been based in the US waiting for the birth of her baby since taking maternity leave from her hosting duties on The Daily Edition since October.

The published author chose to use a surrogate mother for her second pregnancy, after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2011, the day before giving birth to Annabelle.

After undergoing intensive treatment including 16 rounds of chemotherapy, exactly one year after her diagnosis Obermeder was put into remission. But doctors warned her and husband Marcus that due to serious health risks surrogacy would be their only option to have more children.

In 2014 the family met with Wisconsin-based Rachel, and in a gesture that Obermeder feels she could never repay her for, the mother-of-three agreed to carry her child for no financial gain.

Opening up about her experience in an emotional interview with Sunday Night earlier this year, Obermeder said, “How do you even repay someone, like a bottle of perfume just doesn’t cut it. The gift, I mean, it is priceless.”

“How amazing that there are people like Rachel in this world, like a woman from the other side of the world who I don’t even know who would do this for me?”
