Ryan Gosling has given a highly emotional speech in praise of his other half Eva Mendes during his acceptance speech at the Golden Globes.
Winning the gong for Best Actor in a comedy or musical for ‘La La Land’, Ryan took to podium and won hearts worldwide with his humble open line: “This isn’t the first time I’ve been mistaken with Ryan Reynolds, but it’s getting out of hand!”
To the delight of the star-studded audience, including his ‘date’ for the evening, co-star Emma Stone, the heart-throb actor, 36, continued: “You don’t get to be up here without standing on the shoulders of a mountain. While I was singing and dancing and playing piano … my lady was raising our daughter, pregnant with our second and trying to help her brother with his battle with cancer.”
He dedicated his award to Eva’s older brother, Juan Carlos Mendes, who died last April at the age of 53, saying: “Sweetheart, thank you.”
Eva has been notoriously low-profile since giving birth to their two daughters, Esme and Amada, and her no-show at the Globes was no surprise. However, Ryan’s gushing ode to her will more than make up for any insecurities she might have over Emma Stone glamming up his sleeve on the night.
