Russell Crowe’s divorce sell-off!

The star is set to auction off his most personal items.

Russell Crowe is finalising his split from ex-wife Danielle Spencer by holding a divorce auction – and it’s all thanks to close friend Terri Irwin.

The sale – listed as ‘The Art of Divorce’ – is set to take place at Sotheby’s and will feature 227 of his most-prized possessions.

‘Divorce has its way of making you really examine the things that are essential in life – and the things that are not,’ said the 53-year-old of his split from Danielle in 2012.

‘Through the process I had a look around and realised I had a lot of stuff. Career stuff, stuff I’ve collected, and stuff in general. Boxes and boxes of stuff…so in the spirit of moving forward into fresh air, here’s a portion of that collection of stuff.’

The auction is set to feature some of Russell’s movie memorabilia – including a chariot from Gladiator and the 1890 Italian violin he used in Master And Commander, as well as a $100,000 yellow diamond ring he gifted Danielle during their marriage.

It’s believed that good pal Terri has been a rock of support for Russ in the aftermath of his split from Danielle, and has encouraged the actor to take whatever steps he needs to move on from his divorce.

‘Terri may not know about divorce, but she knows a lot about losing the love of your life,’ says a source close to the Australia Zoo boss. ‘She knows that Russell fought hard to keep him and Danielle together, and has been devastated by the divorce process. But this auction is a way of putting that part of his life behind him and she has really encouraged him with that.

‘Steve will always have a place in her heart and it’s the same with Danielle for Russell – moving on doesn’t mean forgetting. Terri’s worked hard to support him and be the best friend she can be.’

In the past, Terri and her daughter Bindi have talked at length about their close bond with Russell, while the A-lister has also opened up about the deep affection they share.

‘You know, I do love Terri Irwin,’ he said on radio station KIIS FM. ‘I love her kids, and I love how she’s kept the memory of Steve alive and respected the work that the two of them had begun…she’s an absolute champion.’
