According to The Sun, whenever there’s a royal dinner member’s of the family are seated according to their status, or their interests and lingual talents in relation to other guests around the table.

This means, if Meghan Markle ever finds herself sitting next to Queen during dinner, the Duchess of Sussex would only be allowed to converse with her majesty at certain times.

At formal dinners, Queen Elizabeth will talk to the person on her right at the start of the meal, then she will talk to the person on her left during the second course.

This rule only applies during formal events of course, we assume family dinners are a more casual affair.

This isn’t the only odd Royal dinner tradition. The Sun reports that along with only talking to the queen at certain times, shellfish and red meat is not allowed to be on the menu, and when the Queen places her purse on the table it means you’ve got five minutes to finish eating.

Dining with the Royal family sounds stressful.
