But Today Show host Richard Wilkins couldn’t hide his distaste for the new 50 Shades Darker film, slamming it as “the glorification of domestic violence.”

“There are plenty of laugh out loud moments because it’s so corny,” the veteran entertainment reporter said in his review.

Aside from being heavily critical of the script, which he remarked would make the long-running TV series The Bold & Beautiful “seem interesting,” Wilkins couldn’t hold back from speaking his mind about the “non-existent” storyline.

“Why would an impressionable young lady get into an abusive relationship with a rude, arrogant, humourless, narcissistic sadist?” he asked. “I don’t get it.”

The journalist then went on to give the film – which is the sequel to the romantic drama 50 Shades of Grey and an adaptation of the book written by E.L James – an unimpressive two out of five stars, before discussing the series with co-host Lisa Wilkinson.

“I loathed the first one,” his co-host told the panel.

“I don’t want to read the books, I don’t support that sort of stuff.”

This comes after the journalist famously slammed the first movie after it’s 2015 release, claiming it was “domestic violence dressed up as erotica.”
