Former Spice Girls star Mel B has ended her ten-year marriage to husband Stephen Belafonte after the recent death of her father and her reunion with her once-estranged family forced her into a ‘moment of clarity’.
That’s the latest from UK newspaper The Mirror, which today reports that the couple have recently endured a string of bitter rows, particularly over Mel’s vast fortune.
An LA TV source, who has worked with the couple, says they have ‘spent half their marriage in therapy.’
‘They started from the beginning when they realised they were very different people, who would argue and row,’ the source revealed.
‘Their personalities were like fire and ice, one minute it was pure adoration and the next it was all-out war.
‘It led to them having blow-out arguments non-stop. However, as they got further down the line, the stress of keeping things together proved too much.’
Mel stopped talking to her family after they voiced objections about her husband, but all that came to an end as her father recently lost his battle with cancer. That event triggered Mel to re-evaluate her life.
A source told the paper: ‘Money was at the centre of many rows but Martin’s passing provided a moment of complete clarity for Mel.
‘For the first time in a decade, she decided to put blood before water.’
