Queen Elizbeth was always a fan of travelling to her many royal engagements via aeroplane, but these days she travels exclusively by train – and now we know why.
Robert Jobson, a royal expert with over 30 years of experience, recently sat down with Express.co.uk to reveal why the Queen, 92, now opts for the Royal train rather than flying.

Jobson cited the reason as being old age, “Of course, at 92, 93 next birthday, she is not doing more long-haul flights,”
“But the reality is, they use the royal train a lot. She has away days and she still carries them out to the best of her ability.”
Even though the monarch no longer travels by plane, the royal family still have rules they must follow if they are to travel overseas on her behalf.
One such rule is that a Royal will fly British Airways when travelling abroad. A Tradition started to by Elizabeth herself when she flew on a British Airways plane in 1952 upon hearing about her father’s death. A stickler for tradition, the Queen then proceeded to use the airline for the next 50 years.
One of the more macabre Royal rules of air travel is that the heir to the throne must not travel with the preceding heir; a rule Prince William frequently breaks when travelling with Prince George.
