Social media users were whipped into a frenzy after UK Prime Minister Theresa May revealed President Donald Trump had accepted an invite from the Queen for a British state visit later this year.
Some said they could not ‘imagine the size of the protest crowds’ as people vowed to take to the streets.
One Facebook user wrote: ‘Get your placarads/megaphones ready time to #PROTEST again… #NoToTrump #UK #Visit #EndtheSpeicalRelationship.’
While another outraged protester tweeted: ‘So Queenie and Theresa May have invited Trump to London. Foolish move and out of touch with mood of electorate.’
Speaking during the joint press conference held at the White House on Friday Theresa May said: ‘I have today been able to convey Her Majesty the Queen’s hope that President Trump and the First Lady would pay a state visit to the United Kingdom later this year and I’m delighted that the president has accepted that invitation.’
