Princes Mary and Prince Fredrick touched down in Rio earlier this week ahead of the Olympic games, but despite Mary’s Australian roots the princess says she will only support green and gold if they aren’t competing against Denmark.
Describing the Rio 2016 Olympic games as ‘so exciting’ in an interview with the Daily Mail, Mary, 44, said she has reserved her cheers for the Danes.
‘I’ll absolutely support Australians so long as they’re not competing against a Dane,’ she said
Adding, ‘But it would be great to get gold [for the Danes] and silver [for the Australians].’
So far Mary says her trip to Brazil has been a ‘positive experience.’
‘And it has also been great to see the beautiful country, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, that Brazil is,’ she said.
She added: ‘We do have a lot of expectations for the Olympics – it’s so exciting when the Games start, so I’m looking forward to Friday [opening ceremony].
