As Prince Harry celebrates his 32nd birthday today, his mother Princess Diana is the first thing on his mind.
And if Princess Diana was still alive, her closest friends say she would have a special message to give to her youngest son, the eternal bachelor.
‘It’s not sissy to show your feelings,’ was her advice for Prince Harry when he was a small boy – advice that still stands today.
It’s wise words for the fifth in line to the throne, who is notoriously cagey about his feelings towards potential princesses.
In recent times, the Prince has been more emotional than ever in interviews about his late mum.
‘I hope she’s looking down, you know, with tears in her eyes, being incredibly proud of what we’ve established,” he said recently. “I’m sure she’s longing for me to have kids so she can be a grandmother again.”
Prince Harry, who was only 12 years old when Princess Diana passed away, traditionally has low-key birthday celebrations, and uses it as a day of reflection of his life.
‘I really regret not ever talking about [mum’s] death,’ he says. ‘For the first 28 years of my life, I never talked about it.’
Sources close to Diana say she would be ‘incredibly proud’ of the man Harry has grown up to be.
‘William always knew his destiny to be king – it was Harry Diana was worried about,” a source tells New Idea. “But she needn’t have. Aside from a few indiscretions in his younger days, Harry has grown up to be an exemplary young man, with the kind of empathy everyone loved about his mother.’
