Prince Philip is retiring.
It was the news that sent shockwaves around the world yesterday, after the Daily Mail reported a secret 3am meeting had been held.
Considering Twitter and News Sites were sent into a frenzy over the possibility that the Prince or Queen Elizabeth II had passed away, it was a relief to find out he was simply retiring.
Though he is taking a step back, Prince Philip showed that he’s still rocking his razor sharp wit with this hilarious comeback.
While attending an Order of Merit service with Queen Elizabeth on Thursday, he had the perfect response when asked about his decision.
One guest at St. James’s Palace told him, “I’m sorry to hear you’re standing down.”
Philip came back with, “Well, I can’t stand up much longer.”
After 96 years, we hope Philip enjoys his well-deserved retirement!
