Prince Harry has been reunited with a terminally ill little boy he first met last year.
The emotional reunion between the young royal and six-year-old Ollie Carroll – who is battling with the rare and incurable Batten disease, which has left him unable to speak or walk – took place at London’s Great Ormond Street Hospital.
Ollie first met Harry last October after he won the inspirational child category at the 2016 WellChild Awards, of which Harry is a patron.
In images which evoke memories of Harry;s mother, the late Princess Diana, embracing a young cancer victim, the 32-year-old spent an hour ;making memories’ at the hospital, where Oliie and his sister Amelia, who also suffers form Batten disease, were getting treatment.
Writing on their Facebook page, Ollie’s mum Lucy said he and his sister had been granted access to a pioneering treatment for CNL2 Batten Disease and she had written to the prince to tell him they ‘finally had some hope’.
‘We thanked him for giving our son the strength to stand when we thought this was no longer possible,’ she said.
‘On Tuesday whilst at Great Ormond Street Hospital getting treatment, Ollie and Amelia got a very special personal visit from Prince Harry.
‘For an hour Prince Harry sat with us talking and playing with our children, laughing and making memories.
‘The love, the support and the laughter within that treatment room will stay with us forever.’
