Prince Harry is to marry his American girlfriend Meghan Markle, New Idea can exclusively reveal.
The happy couple will announce their engagement in August – exactly 20 years after the death of Harry’s mother Princess Diana.
‘They are head over heels in love and they can’t wait to be man and wife,’ says a friend.
‘Harry says Meghan is the one he wants to share the rest of his life with.
‘I have never seen him so happy or at peace with the world. Meghan is 36 in August and they both want children soon, so they don’t see any point in delaying further.’
The engagement is likely to be announced in St James’s Palace, possibly for Meghan’s 36th birthday on August 4, or even August 31 – the anniversary of Diana’s death.
Royal author Andrew Morton says: ‘I’m sure Diana would have approved of Meghan and seen her as an eminently suitable partner for a modern prince striving to find a place for himself in the world.’
