Prince Charles is said to have been left feeling hurt by Prince William and Harry’s candid confessions this week about the effect Princess Diana’s death had on their lives.

According to the Mail On Sunday Charles has felt ‘airbrushed’ out of his son’s lives after their promotional tour this week for their charity Heads Together – in which they’ve been opening talking about the loss of their mother.

While William and Harry had ample praise for each other, as well as the benefits of seeking help from therapists, they failed to once mention their father – the man who had devoted years to bringing them up as a single father.

It’s like an embarrassing omission in a wedding speech,’ as a senior source put it yesterday. ‘It’s like the groom forgetting to thank the bride’s father.’

And while Charles has remained publically silent on the subject, royal insiders say he is ‘perplexed’ by his boys’ seemingly giving him the cold shoulder.

Another source, formerly with the Royal Household, said: ‘From the way Prince William and Prince Harry’s mental health campaign has been presented and their discussions over their mother, it is as if Prince Charles was not part of the picture. Nothing could be farther than the truth. He was always there for them.’
