Power Rangers actor Ricardo Medina has pleaded guilty to the voluntary manslaughter of his roommate Josh Sutter over two years after he was stabbed to death with a sword.
Medina appeared in court on Thursday and remains behind bars without bail.
According to a statement released by Los Angeles Deputy District Attorney Tannaz Mokayef, the actor is scheduled to be sentenced on March 30 and could face up to six years in prison.
The 38-year-old who played Red Wild Force Ranger Cole Evans in the 2002 series Power Rangers Wild Force, allegedly got into an argument with the victim’s former girlfriend on January 31 2015.
As things escalated, Medina grabbed a sword he had in the apartment and started repeatedly stabbing Sutter in the abdomen, who died soon after.
The star was arrested that day, but quickly released following self-defence claims.
He told reporters at the time: ‘I want to say I am very, very, very sorry for what occurred.”
“My heart goes out to the Sutter family.”
It wasn’t until January last year that Medina was rearrested by police and charged with one count of murder after officers found evidence at the scene that did not fit with the star’s version of events.
