Popular 80’s rapper dies

The tragic news has been confirmed.

Fresh Kid Ice, a founding member of the rap group 2 Live Crew, has passed away at the age of 53.

According to his manager, the popular rapper died in Miami on Thursday after suffering an undisclosed medical condition.

Ice – whose real name was Christopher Wong Won – had previously suffered two strokes back in 2008 and 2010.

Many have taken to social media to pay tribute to the music legend, including 2 Live Crew’s Luther Campbell.

Ice first shot to fame in the mid 1980’s as one of the first major Asian rappers in hip hop. 

After leaving 2 Live Crew, he went on to form his own record label, Chinaman Records, where he later was credited with discovering Flo Rida.
