Paul Hogan shot to international fame when he starred in Crocodile Dundee so it’s no surprise after that success he was offered more film roles.
However, in a new interview conducted by news.com.au, the actor revealed he passed on a film that went onto be a huge box office hit and he’s never been able to shake it.
‘One of them that I did pass on was Ghost,’ Paul admitted about the 1990 movie. ‘It was really strange because I had Patrick Swayze lined up to play a part in a movie I had written and then he called me up and said he had to pass on it because he’d been offered this movie that he couldn’t resist and it was Ghost.’
Paul kept it to himself that he’d already passed on the film.
‘I didn’t tell him that I’d already passed on it because I didn’t think it was funny enough. It was a lovely movie,’ the 77-year-old explained. ‘I’m only interested in doing comedy and basically I was only interested in doing something that I had written myself.’
Throughout his career Paul has appeared in nine movies. The first, and most successful, was of course, 1986’s Crocodile Dundee and the two sequels that followed, Crocodile Dundee II (1988), and Crocodile Dundee in Los Angeles (2001).
Paul, who is set to be the subject of a biopic, Hoges, airing on Seven in 2017, revealed what he’s currently working on.
‘A top secret script, which will be very funny if we make it.’
