Bound for Paris on the fateful trip that would see her life end prematurely, Paul has told his fellow UK Celebrity Big Brother housemates Diana was surrounded by ‘desperation and loneliness’ in her final days and sensed something bad was imminent.

‘She asked, “You will be there when I get back won’t you?”‘ says Paul of their final exchange.

Assuring her he would be there upon her return, Paul went on to describe the day she passed away as ‘the saddest day of my life’.

While viewers of the reality show lashed out at Paul for his comments, labelling him as ‘disrespectful’, the former royal servant is no stranger to controversy – he penned two best-selling memoirs detailing palace secrets and at one point was accused of stealing 342 items from the royal household, including personal effects belonging to Diana – a claim he denies.
