Olivia Newton John has weighed in on the crazy Grease fan theory the re-emerged last week.
The theory, published on Reddit, suggested that Sandy was dead all along.
‘I thought it was hilarious,’ she told The Project last night.
Adding her own theory to the mix, Newton John said, ‘But I thought, if that’s true, we were the first zombie musical! I think we look pretty good considering!’
Host Waleed Aly asked what everyone else was thinking. Why then, do Danny and Sandy fly off into the clouds at the end of the movie if she isn’t dead?
‘I wondered what it was about but I didn’t question it,’ Newton-John said. ‘It kept people interested. That’s what’s amazing to me — that after all these years people are still talking about it and I think that’s wonderful and very funny and who knows, maybe that was the secret!’
Following the attention, Grease creator chimed in, debunking the theory.
Speaking to TMZ, Jim Jacobs said the person who came up with the idea ‘must have been on acid.’
Adding, ‘Sandy was very much alive.’
