Former NRL star O.J. Simpson has been granted parole, nearly nine years after he was handed a 33-year jail sentence for kidnapping and armed robbery.
According to reports, the 70-year-old’s first words were “thankyou, thankyou, thankyou” after the verdict was handed down at a hearing on Thursday.
But it was another candid comment the disgraced star made that had many up in arms.
“I have basically spent a conflict-free life,” he told the four-person panel.

“I’m not a guy who lived a criminal life.”
“I’m a pretty straight shooter. I’ve always tried to be a good soldier.”
Since Simpson was famously accused of and tried for the violent stabbing murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her rumoured lover Ron Goldman, many were quick to call him out on this.

Ok… time to send him back to the loony bin… He's officially lost it.
While he was acquitted of the charges and has always maintained his innocence, there are many who still believe he is guilty of the crime.
