Nicole Kidman has shared her fears about being an older mother.
With two children at home, 5-year-old faith and 8-year-old Sunday Rose, the 49-year old has revealed to CBS Sunday Morning that she worries that she won’t be around to watch them grow up.
“I’m an older mother, so you know,” the Oscar winner said, breaking down in the emotional interview. “I would just like to be here long enough to… see my children grow up and thriving. That’s all I ask, and that my husband and I are with each other. Simple. Simple requests.”
As she wiped away tears, the actress confessed she often prayed about wanting “to be here,” but admitted she had to surrender to the fact that “what will be, will be.”
The Australian, who has been married to country crooner Keith Urban for over a decade, also opened up about her recent struggle in dealing with the death of her late father.
“When my father passed away, I was literally down, saying “Please, give me the strength just to be able to wake up tomorrow.” I was shattered beyond belief at that. I didn’t even know how to get up from this.”
But the Academy-Award winner credits the support of her husband for helping her to get through the troubling time.
“I called him screaming and crying and he was just about to go on stage, and he walked off stage and he got on a plane. He’d just gotten there. He flew six hours and he was right back there and he literally picked me up and carried, pretty much carried me through the next two weeks.”
Kidman and 49-year-old Urban met in 2005 at a G’Day LA event and married the following year in Sydney.
The couple is currently visiting down under to promote her new role in the Garth Davis movie, Lion.
